“Everyone, whoever and wherever they are, has a deserving and inherent right to the highest attainable standard of mental health.” –WHO

That mental health has been included in the Sustainable Development Goals is indicative of how vital it is to people’s general well-being and their ability to live quality, productive life.

Despite mental health being declared a human right, the marginalized communities’ access to care and resources remains a major cause for concern.

Available data indicate that mental illness affects an estimated 950 million people worldwide and is the leading cause of disability across all age groups.

Mental health issues are the leading cause of suicide, accounting for over 800,000 deaths per year.

Addressing mental health for marginalized communities is part of our mission and over time, we have carried out activities to advocate for, educate, and enlighten the communities we serve, while connecting them to resources that help them manage their mental health.

We deem it fit to tailor our 2024 mental health summit to benefit marginalized communities in our quest to bring to light, the very real challenges they face in accessing effective care, while also educating and enlightening the population we serve on mental health and linking them to available resources. Rounding off our Mental Health workshops for 2024 is one focusing on children and adolescents Mental Health.
