Our target population are victims of social injustice because they are often misrepresented. This is mostly because the stories about them that make it to the media are told by others who have no real understanding of their struggles and as a result, the accounts are nearly always skewed.
As minority groups, they are powerless to speak up, advocate for themselves and therefore, are perpetually misunderstood. To address this, we have taken it upon ourselves to tell their stories and give them a voice. We do this through our professionally produced original series Echoes from the Valley, broadcast on public access television channels in New York, mainstream TV channels in Africa, and on various social media platforms. We not only use the TV show as a platform to tell the stories of the population we serve, but ours is a multiple-throng approach;
(1) Give them a voice: A medium for the public to hear directly from the people we serve as they tell their own stories.
(2) Educate / Enlighten / Inform: A population with easy and direct access to necessary information and education that is applicable to every situation they find themselves, is an enlightened population. Enlightenment will enable the underserved population to play significant roles in keeping them, their families and community safe, particularly in times of emergencies.
